Renee Powell to be honored in Saint Andrews, Scotland.

Congratulations to Dr. Renee Powell on behalf of the Women of Color Golf (WOCG) Board Members, Advisory Board and our WOCG Members! On September 19th, in St. Andrews, Scotland, Dr. Renee Powell, an honorary graduate of the University of St. Andrews and golf legend, will lend her name to the newest of the University Halls of Residence which is due to open in Autumn of 2018. Powell Hall is a 5-story residence hall, 205 single self-catered suites, that will offer various facilities for students to reside, socialize and study.

When Clemmie Perry was laid off from a Fortune 500 company five years ago, she didn’t waste any time agonizing over her loss. Instead, she signed up for golf lessons. Learning how to play the game had long stood as a goal for Perry, but she could never find the time. Now, she had ample time but there was just one problem: the African American woman encountered few who looked like her on the course. Someone else may have been dismayed, but Perry was motivated.

Sadena Parks Professional Gold Player 2018 Women Of Color Golf Ambassador

Sadena Parks is an American professional golfer who currently plays on the Symetra Tour. She was born May 4, 1990. She became the first African American to win on the Symetra Tour since LaRee Sugg in 1998. She is the first African American to earn her Tour card through the Symetra Tour and she is the fifth African American to play on the LPGA Tour. She started playing golf at the age of nine and credits her father as having the most influence on her career.

She is passionate about introducing young girls and women of color to
the game of golf. Her hobbies include shopping, watching Hulu and having dinner with friends.

Sherrice Broussard Rose DPT PT CGFI

Sherrice will have a special focus on golf and postural assessments, wellness and preventing injuries.

SHERRICE BROUSSARD ROSE DPT PT CGFI is the co-director of Therapydia Tampa, a physical therapist directed practice based on orthopaedic, spine and sports assessment, treatment and wellness in Tampa Bay, FL. Sherrice practices evidence based physical therapy, emphasizing movement assessment, manual therapy, wellness, optimal performance and injury prevention. Sports training specialties includes but is not limited to Golf, Dance Medicine and Pilates. After graduating from LSU with a Bachelor's of Science degree-Microbiology, Sherrice was accepted into the graduate program at Emory University, graduating with a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree in 2004. A Louisiana native, Sherrice worked for University of Texas Medical School-Houston Texas prior to graduate work, researching genetic data pertaining to orthopaedics, contributing to published articles in Clinical Genetics, Journal of Medical Genetics and Genomics. After a recent move to Tampa, FL, Sherrice joined the STRAZ CENTER'S Patel Conservatory as a Adjunct Faculty Member and Mat Pilates instructor in Tampa, FL in 2012. With her background in treating sports and golf injury and utilizing her physical therapy and pilates training, she enhances the conditioning and performance of the golfer through therapeutic movement instruction and currently lectures in body awareness and injury prevention workshops. Sherrice commits to continued education to maintain competency in orthopaedics, spine, sports, wellness and injury prevention. She has trained nationally in a multitude of areas including pilates, dance medicine, golf assessment, kinesiotaping and attends orthopaedic and sports seminars to expand her knowledge base so the patient may be treated with an evidence based approach. Sherrice's certifications include TPI Certified Golf Fitness Instructor, APTA Credentialed Clinical Instructor and a Power Pilates Certification. Sherrice is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), APTA Orthopaedic Section, APTA Performing Arts Special Interest Group, Titleist Performance Institute, President of the EMORY UNIVERSITY Alumni Chapter of Tampa Bay and is involved with The First Tee of Tampa Bay as a Champions Council Member.

International golf organization appoints Tampa CEO, Women of Color Golf to promote diversity
Women of Color Golf’s CEO, Clemmie Perry appointed to join the World Golf Foundation Women’s 20/20 Task Force to support diversity in Golf.

Tampa, Fla. (February 16 2015) – Clemmie Perry, CEO of Tampa’s Women of Color Golf (WOCG), is appointed to join the World Golf Foundation Women’s Golf 20/20 Task Force in 2015.  The World Golf Foundation, is a global organization dedicating to developing and supporting initiatives that positively impact lives through the game of golf and its traditional values.  Perry will be joining to bring her unique perspective on diversity.

This appointment will allow WOCG to work with long established golf organizations such as: The World Golf Foundation, the United States Golf Association (USGA), Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA), Professional Golfers Association of America (PGA), PGA Tour Headquarters (PGAHQ), Executive Women Golf Association( EWGA), The First Tee, Club Corp, Golf for A Cause and other golf entities and consulting groups.

Women of Color Golf  (WOCG), is a non-profit organization that encourages women of color to participate in the game through clinics, webinars, social activities and networking opportunities. WOCG also sponsors a mentoring program, Girls On the Green Tee (GOTG), designed to encourage young girls (7-14) and college prep students (14-19) to learn the game and help prepare them for life.

Announcement- The First Tee Advisory Board Appointment for Women of Color Golf (WOCG): On August 21, 2014, Ms. Clemmie Perry, Director of Women of Color Golf (WOCG) was appointed to The First Tee Tampa Bay, Board of Advisors. The First Tee is Tampa's top youth development program which teaches life skills & leadership through golf. Clemmie will begin to serve in this role in September and will provide representation for (WOCG, MOCG and GOTG-T).
